Keeping a strong grip on your paddle can make or break your game. A fresh overgrip gives you better control, absorbs sweat, and feels good in your hand. But replacing it too often can get costly. The good news? A little care goes a long way. With simple steps, you can make your pickleball overgrips last much longer.
Why Overgrips Matter
Overgrips do more than just make your paddle look good. They give you a firm hold, prevent slipping, and help absorb sweat. Over time, they wear down, losing their grip and comfort. Taking care of them means fewer replacements and a better game experience.
Keep It Clean
Sweat and dirt break down overgrips fast. After every match, wipe the grip with a dry cloth. This removes moisture and keeps it fresh. If the grip feels sticky or grimy, use a damp cloth or an alcohol-free wipe. Avoid harsh cleaners since they can dry out the material. Cleaning after each use stops sweat and dirt from wearing it down.
Store It Right
Heat and moisture can ruin your grip. Never leave your paddle in a hot car or a damp bag. A cool, dry place is best. Using a paddle cover helps too. It protects the grip and keeps it from getting dirty when not in use. If you store your paddle properly, your best pickleball overgrip will last much longer.
Know When to Replace It
Even with care, overgrips wear out. If yours feels smooth, slick, or has visible fraying, it’s time for a new one. A good rule? Change it every 100-150 hours of play. If you sweat a lot, you might need to swap it out sooner. Keeping an eye on your grip means better control and comfort on the court.
Pick a Good Overgrip
Not all overgrips are the same. Some absorb sweat better. Others have extra cushion for comfort. Look for one that suits your game. If you play in hot weather, go for a grip with strong moisture control. If you like a softer feel, find one with extra padding. Choosing a quality grip means you won’t have to replace it as often.
Wrap It Correctly
A loose or uneven grip won’t last long. Start at the bottom of the handle and wrap up in slight overlaps. Keep the tension even. If the grip isn’t tight, it may shift while you play. A secure wrap helps your grip last longer and feel better in your hand.
Extra Accessories for Better Play
A great paddle isn’t the only thing that helps your game. Small extras like bags, hats, and visors can make a big difference. A sturdy bag keeps your paddle safe and dry. A hat or visor shields your eyes from the sun, letting you focus better. Little details can add up to a better playing experience.
Final Thoughts
Taking care of your overgrip is simple and worth it. Wipe it down, store it right, and replace it when needed. A fresh grip means better comfort and control every time you play.

Great product! Quality paddle!
I’m really happy with the paddle. It’s relatively light, has a soft feel to it for good control and still delivers power and spin when needed. Definitely has helped me improve my game.
Coming from a tennis background, I have been a bit picky with paddles. This paddle was absolutely amazing. Great balance of power and control. Highly recommend.
It’s a nice paddle. I it’s comfortable in my hands it came with a really nice protective cover. I think it will last for a really long time………………..
This paddle has a lot of power in it. I used the cheap ones that were available at work. But when i tried this the weight made a huge difference. Gave it a much more comfortable feel but wasnt too heavy.
